Other great news!

I GOT A NEW JOB!

I will start on January 8th. I'm so happy! I hope I like the job. I guess I'll find out cause I took it. The pay is better and the hours too. I'll be getting 9 an hour instead of the 6. Now I will be able to try and catch up with the bills I haven't paid on.

NEW YEARS EVE!

Took me awhile to get on the computer. My husband has been looking up his family tree. It seems that we both want to get on the computer at the same time. Oh well. I'm sure it happens to everyone.

I was up early to get ready for church today. Did the normal, you know, take over the bathroom for about half an hour with shower, brush teeth, do hair.
Tonight we are staying home and bring in the new year as a family. No big party with the drinks and all.

I hope that all of you have a great and safe new years eve. Take it easy. Have someone to drive you if your going to drink. We all want to see you again tomorrow.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!

A very beautiful poem.

One Solitary Life
He was born in an obscure village. The child of a peasant woman. He grew up in another obscure village where he worked in a carpenter shop until he was thirty. He never wrote a book, He never held an office, He never went to college, He never visited a big city, He never travelled more than two hundred miles from the place where he was born. He did none of the things usually associated with greatness. He had no credentials but himself. He was only thirty three His friends ran away. One of them denied him. He was turned over to his enemies and went through the mockery of a trial. He was nailed to a cross between two thieves. While dying, his executioners gambled for his clothing. The only property he had on earth. When he was dead He was laid in a borrowed grave through the pity of a friend. Nineteen centuries have come and gone and today Jesus is the central figure of the human race and the leader of mankind's progress. All the armies that have ever marched, all the navies that have ever sailed, all the parliaments that have ever sat, all the kings that ever reigned put together have not affected the life of mankind on earth As powerfully as that one solitary life.

I must say Amen.

Christmas

Well Christmas is just around the corner. I can not believe that the end of this year is so close. With Christmas only 3 days away, I am looking more and more at the true meaning of Christmas and how it can get lost in the hype. This year, as I have said before, is a small Christmas. Only a gift to each child and then the undies and socks in their stockings. And of course you have to have an apple an orange, and a few pieces of candy. But this year we are truly reaching to the true meaning of Christmas. The birth of Christ! After all without Him, there would be no Christmas. Keep in your hearts the love, kindness, joy and forgiveness everyday of the year.

Another day.

Looks like today is going to be another beautiful day. Going to go for an interview that will bring in $9.00 an hour instead of the job I have now that is $6.00. I'm hoping to get it.

Added another link today. It's for e-cards, and I really like this site. They have lots of very nice cards. I use it for the holidays and for birthdays too.

Tonights party.

Tonight went great. Was small but lots of fun. Instead of a big expensive gift exchange ranging form 5 to 10 dollars, we went with ornaments. Top price was $5.00. We really got some nice gifts. And everyone seemed real happy with what they got. So if you want to do a inexpensive gift exchange, this maybe a good idea for you. Well it's getting late. I'll say good-night for now!

Yesturday was good.

Yesterday was payday. And if your anything like me, your broke before you get it. But I feel great about yesterday. I got my grand-daughter's two things out of layaway. So they are here now and awaiting the great Christmas Eve and the arrival of Santa Claus .It's the Kids Karaoke and Hi Ho the Cherry game. I guess I know what I'm going to do doing Christmas day. hehehe.

Today we are having our annual Christmas get together. I love getting friends and family together. (though there is not much of my family left) We will be having turkey and ham, scalloped corn, scalloped potatoes, pickles olives, a friendship cake, punch, (non-alcoholic) along with other little goodies (cookies and the sort) and a very small gift exchange. This year we decided to have an ornament gift exchange. Something a little different. Everybody really seemed to love the idea. Then of course talking, visiting and all that good stuff.

Well got to start the cake. Should have done that last night. Oh well. No damage done.

Another day.

Today is a beautiful day. I mean that. It is about 52 degrees. That is amazing for Iowa. Sunny, warm, not need for a heavy coat. Just a jacket or not, and out you go.
Going to look for a better job today ....... again. Always on the look out for that better paying job. Not to far from Christmas and getting excited for the kids. Even though this year is going to be no gifts, just a couple things in their stockings. But there is more than gifts that we need to keep in mind.
Well about time to take the 4 year old to the ear specialist. She is having some heavy drainage from her left ear and already has tubes in both. So will leave you all for now and come out later.

Just lookling in.

I was just passing through and thought I would leave a hello to all that come by. I have been thinking of more things to put out here for Kids say the darndest things. I would love to hear any stories that you might have as well. I love to laugh. You must admit that there is not enough laughter in this world today. At least not by adults. Thanks for stopping by my page.

Kids say the darnest things.

My second oldest daughter, which is 22, and I were making a gingerbread house. You know the kind that are pre-cut and ready to build, frost, decorate. Well it comes in a box of course and a cardboard frame to hold it still. As we were nearing the end of the decorating, my 4 year old grand-daughter finds the frame and puts it in front of her face and says, "Look, a picture of me!" and then smiles real big. We laughed till our ribs hurt!

Kids say the Darndest things!

I recall a time when my now 15 year old son was about 6 years old. We went out to eat at a local restaurant and had ordered our food, then my husband asked for the ashtray. It was setting near Kyle, my now 15 year old. Kyle then picked it up and said, "Sure, I'm not an alcoholic!"

Making things harder.

Another day comes up and find out something else that just makes me very mad. I have a very very low income, I work in a gas station that pays $6.00 an hour and I work 25 to 30 hours a week, and I saport my disabled husband and our three kids and our grand-daughter, so a total of five people. And if you do the math with house payment of $400.00 and then utility bills and gas and food or any of the other things in life that come up it leaves little to nothing for us to live on. So Christmas for us this year is going to be non-existent. I rely on layaway programs at the near-by Wal-Mart, only to find out that this year they have discontinued the layaway program, so this has me looking somewhere else for layaway. Target doesn't do layaway, I found that Kmart does layaway too, but here's the thing that just ticks me off to the max! They charge $5.00 to put it on layaway. I had done a layaway a month ago there and thought that a NEW layaway meant that it was for the first time you use their layaway. Nope, not the case. It is every time you use their service. I understand the $5.00 if they have to put it back on the self, but the last one I did was in and out in a month. What I guess makes me mad is that some of us have no way to do Christmas, and then the stores have to make another dollar here another dollar there. Times are very very hard for some of us and then to have to pay $5.00 extra to have the store hold the gift till I can pay it off is unreal. I can not believe that a store like Kmart/Sears would do that. Of course I suppose they are after the all mighty dollar and really have no concerns for the poor people. I'm sure as they see it, you can put it on layaway in their store, or go somewhere else.
