Day after Thanksgiving. And some traditions.

Hi all. Hope that you had a great Thanksgiving. Mine, even though I had to work in the morning, went off without a hitch. No problems and no accidents either. Which with 9 people here moving around is a really good thing.
As you all know, today is the biggest shopping day of the year. I am not one of them out there trying to get in on it. I don't mind shopping in a busy store, but not that busy. I'll be waiting till later next week to do my shopping.
Our day after Thanksgiving tradition is starting to get the Christmas decorations out and getting the outdoor lights around the front porch, hubby will probably do that today, and starting to get the tree up and decorate it. I love traditions and try to follow my families. I would LOVE to hear your family traditions if you would want to share.

Grandchildren/Kids say the darndest things

If anyone has grand kids, this might sound familiar. My husband takes our soon to be 4 year old grand daughter to pre-school 4 days a week. On the way there, she saw a flock of geese heading south for the winter. Out of nowhere she says, "Grandpa, look, a heard of eagles!"
Also, a different day of course, Grandpa come down from the bathroom, that is upstairs, to find the same grand-daughter marking on her socks with a marker. When Grandpa asked, "Why are you marking on your socks?" she replied innocently, "It's your fault, you weren't watching me."

I will share more cute things with you at another time.

Holidays

Well..... here is my first try at Blogging.
I want to talk about Thanksgiving and Christmas. Has anyone noticed that there are more and more stores and things open on these two holidays. These were, at one time, holidays to spend with your family and friends. The convenience stores and gas stations are open 365 days a year, and most 24 hours a day. (which I do work at) These employees don't get the chance or time to spend with their families, and usually have to make the dinner a different day, or eat so fast and have no time to share with the loved ones. Are these companies owned by such greedy people that one or two days a year to close their doors for business is such a great loss? I am pretty sure that they are not working on these to days, that they are home with the family and loved ones, but have employees that have to work that day. I wish that we could all go back to a time when it was hard to find a store open, and if you didn't have all you needed, you somehow got by without it. These are companies that say they are family orientated. Hard to believe when they keep their employees working on these two special days.
Even Ebeneezer Scrooge closed Christmas day and let Bob have the day off.
